ceramics
A French ceramicist, formed in New York, now working between Caldas da Rainha and Lisbon. The instinct is for restraint — for what you take away rather than what you add.
The studio makes high-fire stoneware — wheel-thrown, hand-painted, fired once. Caldas da Rainha is Portugal’s most historically significant ceramics town, known for low-fired earthenware and the Bordalo Pinheiro tradition. This work does the opposite: stoneware instead of earthenware, geometry instead of figuration, matte neutrals instead of painted scenes. Each piece is made to commission. No stock held. Two to four weeks from order to delivery.
